Laneway Presents bring you

POND

POND, Perth’s foremost psych rock group are back to play Laneway in 2015. Led by musical wanderer Nick Allbrook (it’s his sixth Laneway in a row), the band comprises a revolving cast of members taken from Tame Impala, The Growl, The Silents and others.

Further to their appearances on the upcoming St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Pond have now also announced two headline shows in celebration of their upcoming new album 'Man It Feels Like Space Again'. Tuesday 3rd February at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, and an intimate show at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Thursday 5th February.  With this new album release on the eve of Laneway, these shows will be the first showcase of their new music; undoubtedly, a rousing and thrillingly explosive performance awaits.

Over their five-year history, the band have released a series of albums (including the raved about Beards Wives & Denim and 2013’s Hobo Rocket) that redefine rock n roll. NME once called them the ‘The Hottest New Band In The World’ and they count as one of our favourites.

Pond will be joined by local garage outfit The Shabbab in Melbourne, and the latest Spinning Top  family member (joining Pond, Allbrook/Avery and Tame Impala) Peter Bibby in Sydney.

FKA TWIGS

“There’s an undeniable flair to her performance that’s just a little bit magical…” - The Line Of Best Fit

“FKA Twigs is an empress of subtlety, a connoisseur of the barely tangible moments between pop music’s satiating exhalations. The big reveals in her songs tend to hit with half the force of usual radio fare, yet they leave impressions that only grow more pronounced with time.” - Pitchfork

We actually cannot wait to see FKA TWIGS in action. Her mesmerising show - which she is bringing to Australia for the very first time - is a visceral treat. It’s almost impossible to characterise the British-born Young Turks-signed 26 year old’s remarkable album, LP1, a record of strange beauty and deeply confident lyrics (see: lead single ‘Two Weeks’, and the intense follow-up ‘Video Girl’).  Writing, producing, singing and choreographing most of her output, the former professional dancer is a force to be reckoned with.  These shows will sell out in a flash.

FKA twigs' Sydney and Melbourne shows sold out in a matter of hours. Due to overwhelming demand we are adding second shows in both cities. FKA twigs returns to Melbourne for an early show on Thursday 29th January at the 170 Russell St and again at Sydney's Metro Theatre on Tuesday 3rd February.

FKA twigs' second Melbourne show has now sold out! There are only a handful of tickets left to her second Sydney show. Get in quick!

BANKS

“GODDESS is an accomplished debut” – The Guardian (UK)

“...her voice is shockingly powerful and chameleonic...a set that showcased her versatility and announced her arrival.” - Idolator

Acclaimed for her eerily striking vocals and moody beats, the magical Banks continues to rise at meteoric pace. Since her break-out London EP, the L.A. native and blogger’s favourite has notched up a debut tour with The Weeknd and a ‘BBC Sound of 2014‘ nomination, a breakout Coachella performance and a string of sold out shows around the globe.  She dropped her “intensely compelling” and “remarkably seasoned” debut LP Goddess in September to rave reviews. Don’t miss this very special performance at one of Sydney’s most unique venues.

Banks will be supported by emerging Sydney trio Mansionair. The band’s first single ‘Hold Me Down‘ has amassed a staggering 5.9 million Youtube views, over 1 million SoundCloud plays and peaked at #1 on Hype Machine since appearing online in Feb.

BENJAMIN BOOKER

“An electrifying introduction to the future of the blues.” - Clash Music

“‘Violent Shiver’ is a blustering, rollicking explosion of guttural guitar, while ‘I Thought I Heard You Singing’ creaks along with an aching, understated intimacy...When Booker goes for the heartstrings, he pulls hard.” - The Guardian

If you haven’t had a chance to see BENJAMIN BOOKER in action, do yo’self a favour. The gravelly-voiced star has a sharp eye for storytelling and a refreshing take on blues and boogie. Booker has spent the last year on the road, touring with Courtney Barnett and Jack White (who personally requested him and better watch his back), and at European summer festivals, Lollapolooza, FYF Fest and many others. He joins us for a run of Laneway sideshows with a fire in his eyes and a Violent Shiver.  Booker’s self-titled debut is out now via ATO Records/Rough Trade Records.

HIGHASAKITE

“An altogether astounding performance.” - Tone Deaf

“Silent Treatment is robust, purposeful and precariously, hauntingly sublime.” - The Line Of Best Fit

Nordic indie/rock five piece HIGHASAKITE generated loads of buzz earlier this year with their excellent break-out single ‘Since Last Wednesday’. Their new album Silent Treatment gives us the rousing vocals of frontwoman Ingrid Havik and is supported by wicked percussion and synth, which combine to form a captivating sound that takes you to into a realm full of contrasts. Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon invited them to tour with him being so impressed by their live show; we promise you will be too.

JUNGLE

“This is throwback British soul saved from the cheese section thanks to tasteful, futuristic production tweaks and a sexy attitude...heads will nod, arses will shake.” – (3/4) Rolling Stone Australia

“...there's enough invention and energy on show to suggest they might soon be king of the swingers.” - The Guardian

Out of the UK thunders JUNGLE, an enigmatic producer duo formed by two lifelong friends (Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland). Since signing to legendary label XL Recordings, their retro-future funk has been creating worldwide hype. Their debut self-titled (and Mercury-nominated) LP came out this July, gifting fans with a range of tunes (‘Busy Earning’, ‘Platoon’) that put a modern spin on old school soul. Live, Jungle expand to an eclectic 7-piece to produce their own unique sound and one hell-of-a-show to watch.

We are happy to announce that one of Australia's most prodigious new talents, Oscar Key Sung is set to heat up the dance-floor as Jungle's support act this January!

Laneway Presents and Penny Drop bring you

MAC DEMARCO

“Salad Days is no more or less than a great album in a tradition of no-big-deal great albums.” - Pitchfork (8.5 – Best New Music)

“His best record yet” - NME (9/10)

Possibly the most charismatic live performer on the line-up (ever?) MAC DEMARCO (real name, Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV) has a penchant for cheeky lyrics and a gap-toothed smile.  After a succession of playful, buzzy albums, Canada’s most charming wild child released his third record Salad Days, which took a more serious turn despite plenty of oddball jams.  DeMarco’s self-labelled style of ‘jizz jazz’ is groovy and melodic, and his live show will be fun, lewd and possibly a little nude.

A second Melbourne show on Tuesday 3rd February at the Hi Fi has now been announced as the first date has sold out. There are also only a handful of tickets left to his Sydney show.

Mac DeMarco will be supported by Geelong's The Murlocs across all three shows with their killer harmonicas and authentic garage rock. Get prepped with their self-titled EP available for download here

Laneway Presents & Secret Sounds in association with Artist Voice bring you

RAURY

“A stage-diving fizzbomb of energy...The genre-bending Atlanta musician commands the stage with charismatic presence – no wonder Kanye West is calling” - The Guardian

“The 17-year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist/rapper from Atlanta's east suburbs already has professional poise, prodigious songwriting skills and seemingly impeccable taste.“  - Noisey

June 10 marked the 18th birthday of the tenacious and talented Altana songwriter RAURY, who collaborated with SBTRKT, swapped tracks with Kanye West and got booked to open for OutKast, all before releasing a single record.  Cultivating his craft of singing, songwriting and production since the age of nine, Raury has been turning heads with his intriguing and unique blend of rap, folk and soul as heard on his debut LP Indigo Child (Columbia Records). His intelligent lyrics double as the voice of his generation, talking about the frustrations of adolescence and the deeply felt topics of acceptance and ambition. We can’t wait to see what he comes up with on the live stage during his first trip to Australia. Prep yourself with his stunning video for his breakout single ‘God’s Whisper’ here.

Raury will be supported by rising locals Milwaukee Banks. The Melbourne-based producer and rapper duo Edo and Dyl Thomas are exciting new audiences with their fresh, intelligent take on hip-hop. Check out their excellent debut EP Roe Water, out now.

Laneway Presents, I OH YOU & Frontier Touring bring you

SOHN

“Not once is there vocal faltering, not once is there poor sound, not once is any confidence lost in SOHN’s ability to put on a near-flawless performance. He’s a grafter, a perfectionist, and it pays off. An undeniable talent.” - Consequence of Sound

“...the elusive beauty of this album documents the emergence of a unique and accomplished talent.” -The Music

SOHN released his debut album Tremors on seminal label 4AD earlier this year to our delight. Contrasting abstract electronic beats with a killer falsetto, the record is filled with tracks that are equally at home in poorly lit rooms and festival stages (We’ll see you up the front for Artifice). The Vienna-based producer is in high demand, working with the likes of BANKS, Lana Del Ray, Rhye and snagging a well-received BBC Radio 1 Residency. He sold out his Australian tour earlier this year, giving us an exciting glimpse of what’s in store for Laneway festival shows and sideshows in 2015.

We are excited to announce that Melbourne duo Klo will be supporting SOHN's Laneway sideshows.
