Laneway Presents Belle and Sebastian

Glasgwegian indie-pop collective, Belle & Sebastian, are confirmed to return to Australia this summer for a string of headline shows. Announced already for the NZ leg of St Jerome’s Laneway Festival only, the teams at Laneway Presents & Penny Drop can confirm that the Australian mainland will not miss out, as they announce headline shows across the country.
After a four year absence since their last Australian tour, including a performance at the Sydney Opera House, Belle & Sebastian will play at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Wednesday 28 January, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Thursday 29 January, the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on Sunday 1 February and the Astor Theatre in Perth onTuesday 3 February.
Just last week, Belle and Sebastian announced next year’s release of their highly anticipated ninth studio album, due out on Friday 16 January in Australia. Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance(Matador/Remote Control) is the long-awaited follow-up to 2010’s Write About Love.
Opening each night will be cheeky, charming and touchingly direct Melbourne foursome,Twerps. Forming in late 2008, they have been affectionately called “the best new band in Australia”by iconic UK magazine Uncut.
