Laneway Presents Highasakite

Norway’s HIGHASAKITE today reveal they will play a special intimate headline show for Melbourne fans at the Corner Hotel on Wednesday 4th January, adding to already-announced appearances at Southbound Festival, Beyond The Valley Festival and Field Day over the summer break.

In Australia just last year to play the 2015 instalment of the national boutique Laneway Festival, Highasakite made an impression; the soaring pitch-perfect vocals and commanding on-stage presence of front-woman Ingrid Havik garnering Highasakite rave reviews as one of the most compelling up-and-coming acts in the world. “Norwegians Highasakite brought a highly-energetic performance that belied the sweltering heat”, said the Daily Review, while The West Australian noted “sounded fantastic”.

Following acclaimed debut LP ‘Silent Treatment’, which recently marked a two-year milestone in the Norwegian Top 40 Chart, Highasakite released their sophomore album ‘Camp Echo’ in May of this year. It has proven to be another chart-smashing effort, winning the band a second consecutive #1 chart debut in Norway and #24 entry in the ARIA Album Chart Top 40. The album features singles ‘Someone Who’ll Get It’ and ‘Golden Ticket’, amassing streams of more than 6 million in just over a month.

Highasakite’s pulse-quickening second album abounds with instruments, big choruses and political discourse... Singer Ingrid Helene Håvik's vocals corral this heady mix into a coherent force"– MOJO.

Highasakite will return to Australia in January, fresh off the back of a mammoth UK, European and North American tour that has garnered rave reviews and included a mesmerising appearance at Glastonbury Festival in June. “Augmented by an intense light show, vocalist Ingrid Helene Håvik and her cohorts employed their harmonies and multi-instrumental talents to fantastic effect on an eclectic array of material, ranging from dark, impassioned numbers to the upbeat fan favourites...”, said The Line Of Best Fit, of the band’s sold-out London show earlier this year.

The band has hit the stage with fellow Laneway alumni, supporting Of Monsters and Men on extensive US, UK and European dates in 2015. On the cusp of international superstardom, Highasakite’s music has featured across various seasons of popular UK reality TV series, Made in Chelsea. In December, the five-piece will follow in the footsteps of musical icons like Paul McCartney, Elton John, Alicia Keys, Florence + The Machine and more, taking the stage for an anticipated performance at the 23rd annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway.
